This is a new revised field guide covering spiders found in Japan. Out of the 1,700 species that can be observed in Japan, about 600 representative species are included — not only familiar ones, but also species of geographic importance such as southern and northern types. Along with updated scientific names reflecting recent taxonomic changes, the explanations have been revised and the photo quality has been improved to provide reliable information about spiders. Most of the revisions in this edition are changes to scientific names due to taxonomic updates, and 1 new species has been added. About 20 photos have been replaced with clearer ones, and the existing photos have also been color-adjusted to make morphological features easier to understand. The phylogenetic diagram of spiders that was on both endpapers has been revised to match the new classification and moved into the main pages.
